Drinking Water Filter Cartridge

Drinking Water Filter Cartridge

Water Filter

When replacing a drinking water filter cartridge in your water filter system, always be sure you read the instructions for proper installation. There are those you are required to run a certain amount of water through, or immerse in water for a set time to "prime" them for use. They mainly contain activated carbon, which the water passes through and it collects the deposits and impurities. Replacements can be found easily for the common brands at large chain stores and hardware or home improvements stores. When installing your filter system, always find out where you can get replacement cartridges, and if there are alternatives that will work in your system.

Faucet mount filters are the easiest to find replacement cartridges for, they are sold in many outlets all across the country. For specialty systems, some replacements can be found in hardware and home improvement stores by reading the packages available for the make and model they will replace. When you have a whole house filtration unit installed, ask the installer where you can find the replacement parts, and what the model and number is on the current unit.

Maintenance is important with any filtration system, either on tap or whole house units. The cost will be outweighed by the savings in not having to buy bottled water, and in the case of a whole house unit, the wear on your plumbing and water heater will be greatly reduced. Checking the system regularly and timely replacing the drinking water filter cartridge will extend the life of your system.
